Weekends’ Job (Expository Text)

I work in football radio transmissions for www.sinruido.net for three years now. People may think the experience is not much, I believe that the quantity of matches has taught me that in order to present a good transmission it is necessary to follow a series of steps.

1- Be prepared for the match, to know teams, its reality and how they have worked during the week, this is understood as following the news from its performance in its last official match they played.
2- To go to the Stadium with a minimum of two hours in advance before the match begins, this is to talk with the protagonists of the team and this way find out a last-minute injury and if everything is fine. Besides, getting there on time it gives chance to install all the equipments and work material without having any difficulty or hurry.
3- In general, it is always to start with half an hour of anticipation before the match, to locate the listener in the game, giving a vision of how the teams arrive and an analysis of the alignments and the possible scheme on the field.
4- During the transmission it is always good to have a water bottle in hand, to try to avoid in possible fillers or comments that have nothing to do with the game, unless the conditions of the match warrant it.
5- It is always good to go down to the mixed zone when there are still five minutes to conclude the match, this is with the purpose of place well and that way, be able to bring to the audience the testimony of the protagonists.

These steps are generally the ones that I have learned in this short time during transmissions, I do not believe that they are part of a strict manual or anything like that, but I do believe that they are important in order to present a transmission the way it should be.

Francisco "Pollo" Sandoval (Essay)

Probably, just a few people may remember this character, a friend who had football as his principal engine of life, without forgetting that Boxing was also another great passion for him.

I met him through his show "Mi Pasión por el Fútbol" that was transmitted from Monday until Friday, from 11am to 12pm on the "Radio Deporte" 1590 AM, a space where he was accompanied by his son, to complete a fantastic key between the passional man who could be a happy or mad in front of a microphone, and the rational man who could thoroughly analyze everything.

Through the microphone he demonstrated to be a wise man, who said things without being afraid and always telling the truth, as the popular saying would say, he always was "in the middle street" because of his particular style and because of his way of speaking about football and boxing in some cases. I was attracted to the world of the radio, and more specifically the world of the sport journalism. So, wherever he may be, I thank Francisco Sandoval, who besides journalist, technical director of football and international judge of boxing, he was for me, my inspiration.

Argumentative Text (Practice two)

My Thesis refers to what it was unknown then for the press as the Centenariazo, one of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany playoffs, in which Venezuela bet Uruguay in Montevideo, one unforgettable three-nil match where “La Vinotinto” surprised the entire planet and that it has a special importance as to me and to many people, the history of the Venezuelan football is divided into two stages, before and after that date (March 31, 2004).

Before the match, Venezuela was not a favorite, it was utopian to dream of a victory and in addition to win by goals in the face of a team that in the past was bi-champion of the world, since it won the FIFA World Cup of 1930 and 1950. But that day, the Venezuelan team did not have a sense of inferiority; they went out to the field with the objective of making history and they made it, with goals scored by Gabriel Urdaneta on the 19th minute, Héctor Gonzalez on the 63rd minute and Juan Arango on the 78th.

And the best way to shape a good work on this fact is by a radio documentary, in which I count on the advising of my tutor Carlota Fuenmayor and it will have as a goal, the revival of the anecdotes of that day, what the Venezuelan players felt after achieving the feat of humiliating the Uruguayan team on the field and which were the consequences of such historical victory.

Descriptive text or narrative (Practice One)

I practice the Venezuelan Christmas traditions on December 24. That’s the day in which I and my family eat hallacas, ham, chicken salad and ham bread for dinner. Besides the traditional ham bread, these past few years, we added to our Christmas dinner bread made of cream cheese, since it’s my favorite.

On December 31 we eat a delicious Biscayan’s cod; we have a European-style dinner. On the onother hand, I have to say that I enjoy the Christmas’ bagpipes very much, but specially the ones from the sixties, where the most important group was Cardenales del Éxito (founded in 1963 and still in force), a band that had between its rows Ricardo Aguirre, the "Monumental one" of the Bagpipes.

In conclusion, it seems to me that these days are one of many commitments: spending time with friends, and also taking the accurate time to perform nice actions to loved ones because in general, Christmas is a short amount of time, so it’s necessary to make the most of it.

Introduction

This Blog is done with the purpose of learning a little bit more of English due to the fact that
I study Mass Media, specialization in visual arts and one of the subjects of our last year in the carreer, is English III which I must pass.

I am carried away by sports, and I want to devote to sports journalism, and the image that I posted is the FC Barcelona that represents the last element of fanaticism that I still have because the of the fondness and love to this club born when scarcely I was eight years old and this fanaticism of so much time that has lasted the my whole life.
